SIGNATURE BROOCH

This cute little beaded brooch was just an embroidery patch which was converted into a brooch later.

Couldn’t help notice the intricacies of it and wanted to badly use it as an accessory.
Something so colourful yet small helps to lift your look in the most subtle yet catchy way.

And of course you always have the advantage of using something signature that is not available in the mass market.

Yet another Lunki i picked up when I was in Kerala .
Lunki is a “Androgynous ” garment and can be worn by both men and women with total ease.
I seriously dont understand why it’s not worn so much by women for a fun and quirky look.
And it looks so modest too.
Just because ,women dont much wear lunkis for an outside look,it has a very alternate feel to it.

I always believed in “Slow Fashion”, trying to pick up more of pieces which don’t really go out of fashion.

In addition, always caring for the garments as I look at them as “resources” that can be used again and again and not belittle them as “use and dump”. A little extra care shown while washing them and not just dumping all together in the machine.
Your clothes are your second skin which helps you to project the “image” that you want to really project to the world.

INDIGOES FOREVER

What about getting some original jackets stitched rather than buying what is mass produced in the market.

I am sure all of you feel a bit of embarrassed when you find your same garment being donned by another on the street,how much ever beautiful the design is.

One sure way of getting out of this “copy the mass rut” is to tailor make your own stuff….at least some pieces.

This exercise not only makes you stand out with your “personal Style” but also gives you a sense of contentment when you would have gone through the whole exercise of
* sourcing the fabric
* deciding the style
* getting it impeccably stitched by one of those tailors you would have finally identified

There is a lot of “self love” here which is a very essential thing in today’s fast paced life where you kind of lose yourself.

The jacket worn by me here is a “indigo dyed” self ribbed cotton fabric stitched to my taste and need.

This being in “indigo” serves as an all time classic and neutral colour which goes with a whole barrage of other colours.

Kota saris have always been my favourite for the gossamer effect they create…
They are so airy and light to drape yet stay in place and add structure to the drape.
Plain saris give you such versatility to choose your blouses.

Adding a striped “Raw silk” blouse lifts the look tremendously.
The blouse is totally formal with its high back neck and cuffs at the sleeve ends.

Adding “coconut shell” buttons at the back of the blouse gives it an old classic look.

Terracotta beads add a rustic bohemian feel to the look and makes it fun.
